About My Pigments

What are your pigments made of?

They are high-quality, non-toxic, water-based pigments designed to be compatible with Jesmonite® and other plaster/gypsum-based eco-resins or cement.

Why should I buy your pigments?

  • Over 50 hand-blended, high-quality pigments in harmonious color palettes.
  • Consistent colors every time, reducing guesswork and saving time and money on experimentation.

Are these pigments suitable for all types of Jesmonite® and eco-resins?

Yes. They can be used with Jesmonite® AC100, AC300, AC730, and all plaster/gypsum-based eco-resins such as Aqua Cast®, hydroflow, resi-CRETE, Resincrete, Eco Pour®, Naturesin, Ecrylimer, Raysin, Boowannite, Castmonite, Aqua Resin, Plaster, as well as Cement and Concrete.

Important: Do not use with epoxy resin.

Are the pigments safe to use at home?

  • Water-based, non-toxic pigments with no significant hazards.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and do not swallow.
  • Wash thoroughly or drink plenty of water if accidental contact occurs.
  • You may choose to wear gloves, goggles, or protective clothing.
  • Prolonged skin contact is not recommended.
  • They can stain surfaces—protect your work area and close bottles when not in use.

Will the colour remain vibrant over time?

  • These liquid pigments are not fully UV stable and are best suited for indoor projects.

Do you offer custom or bespoke colours?

  • Yes. Contact me for custom colours or larger quantities.

Using my Pigments

How much pigment should I use?

  • Extremely concentrated—15 ml can colour well over 30–40 coasters.
  • Keep to a maximum of 2% pigment by weight of total mix (e.g., 20 g pigment per 1 kg of total mix for a strong, saturated colour).

How do I use the pigments?

  1. Shake the bottle well (at least 30 seconds) before use so the blended colours recombine.
  2. Always mix the pigment into the liquid component (Jesmonite® or polymer liquid or water) first.
  3. Once thoroughly combined, add the powder component.
  4. Mix thoroughly before pouring into your mould. Insufficient mixing can result in a mottled effect.
  5. Do not add the pigment directly to the powder or mould.
  6. For marble or ombré effects, prepare smaller amounts of different shades and combine in the mould.
  7. For terrazzo effects, create different coloured “chips,” let them set, then add them to a fresh mix.

How do I get different shades?

  • Vary the concentration of pigment.
  • For pastel tones, start with a tiny amount (e.g., a toothpick tip).
  • For deeper colours, add pigment one drop at a time until you reach the desired shade.
  • It’s easier to start light and go darker—once a colour is too dark, you can’t lighten it without starting over.

Can I mix different pigment colours together?

Yes, you can make even more unique colours by mixing my gorgeous blends together into your own combinations.

How should I store my pigments?

  • Keep bottles tightly sealed to prevent drying.
  • Store above 5°C and do not allow pigments to freeze.

How do I seal my pieces?

  • Use a “Finishing Touch 100% Natural Coconut Oil & Soy Wax Sealer” for interior Jesmonite® or plaster/gypsum eco-resin projects.
  • This adds a slight sheen and splash-proof protection (not fully waterproof or dishwasher safe).
  • Not for use on outdoor products or candle containers.

Why is my colour not matching the photo on your website?

  • Screen colour settings and the quantities of pigment you use can cause slight variations.
  • The final shade may differ slightly, but it should still look amazing.
